Jane H. Rider 1889-1981

Jane Rider devoted herself to the health of Arizonans for over 50 years. She helped publicize sanitation problems in Arizona’s water and to prove the link between infant mortality and unpasteurized milk. Her impact on Arizona’s health was so strong that she eventually served as Arizona’s director or health and hospital surveys from 1948 until 1961. She is responsible for helping bring about a new building at St. Joseph’s Hospital, additions to Good Samaritan Hospital, and Maricopa County General and Memorial Hospital in Phoenix.
