Ida Redbird was a master potter of the Maricopa tribe. Ida helped revive Maricopa pottery and was known for using the ancient paddle and anvil technique of potting. She fought to raise awareness of Maricopa potters and to raise the prices that potters charged for their hard work and craftsmanship. Even when air conditioning was available, Ida preferred to do her work outside under the shade of palm trees.
