Clarissa Winsor preserved Yuma Territorial Prison as its curator after it became a museum. She collected artifacts and stories about Yuma’s history her whole life and it became a top tourist attraction when it became a State Park. In 1961 she was named “Man of the Year” by Yuma County and a holiday was named in her honor in Yuma four years later. She continued serving her community through preservation until her passing at the age of 93.
